Salish Kootenai College received $832,524 from the U.S. Department of Education under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. Salish Kootenai College is using 50% of this funding to provide Emergency Aid Grants for COVID related needs to SKC students.

All students enrolled for our 2019 Spring quarter (Academic Year 2019), were eligible to request Emergency Financial Aid Grants. The total enrolled for the academic year 2019-2021 was 785.

SKC gave out $363,375 to 369 students as of 12/31/20.

Salish Kootenai College established an application system for students requesting Emergency Financial Aid Grants. Students complete applications via a web application. The applications are reviewed by a multi-departmental committee including personnel from SKC's Financial Aid Department. Once a student's application has been accepted and their status verified, they are notified via email that they have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant and how to get access to the money.

Students were notified of the applications process via our Emergency Notification System which sends emails and texts to all students. In addition, on our student COVID-19 website there is information on how to apply.
