The goal of the Department of Academic Success (DAS) is to help all students, particularly those with the most significant barriers, persist toward and achieve their college, employment, and life goals.

Tutoring Access

DAS and the Success Coaches can help get you connected with SKC's Tutoring Options, the SKC Writing Center, and the Science, Engineering, and Math (SEM) Lab.

Emergency Student Aid

Salish Kootenai College's emergency aid program provides assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies.

Success Coaches

Success Coaches are caring individuals who work to support students academically and personally, serving as a connection to on and off-campus resources.

Adult & Community Learning

Continuing Education program was established to meet the growing needs and demands of the Tribal Departments and the Flathead Reservation. The purpose of the program is to provide: Personal/Professional Development, Community Interest, Cultural Educational Events, and Training Courses or Services.

HiSet Testing and Prep

Salish Kootenai College's Department of Academic Success offers HiSET Prep at no cost to students. The HiSET® exam is a test Montana uses to measure high school equivalency skills in Language Arts: Reading/Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

DAS can also help students prepare for the HiSET exam with the HiSET Academy® an online, mobile-friendly course that teaches students exactly what they need to know to pass their HiSET® Exam.

Placement Assessment

All new and transferring full-time and part-time students who have not accumulated 30 quarter credits are required to take a Placement Assessment that assesses skills in reading, English, and mathematics prior to pre-registration. These assessments are evaluated through the Department of Academic Success.
