General Summary:
Campus Security routinely does checks of campus buildings and property. This includes but is not limited to buildings-windows, doors and building alarm systems along with routine checks for fire and safety. These checks take place at alternating times. While on patrol, security will approach and identify any/all individuals and/or vehicles within campus boundaries. Security patrol any new construction areas and buildings to insure the unauthorized entry of children and or adults. Security Officer will contact Tribal Police, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Services and Fire Departments for assistance. Salish Kootenai College’s Wildlife and Fisheries Department seeks applicants to coordinate classroom, laboratory, and field research activities for the SKC Natural Resources programs. In alignment with the Salish Kootenai College (SKC) Mission Statement and College Vision, the Division of Natural Resources seeks to hire a Natural Resources faculty member with expertise in geospatial technologies, remote sensing applications, environmental science, and natural resource management. The ideal candidate will have theoretical and applied expertise in remote sensing, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, focusing on natural resource management, environmental monitoring, and land stewardship. This position involves developing and teaching courses integrating theoretical concepts with practical applications, empowering students to utilize remote sensing, GIS, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technologies in real-world natural resource management contexts.
The successful candidate will join an established team engaged in geospatial science, working alongside SKC’s drone program, GIS certificate, and departments such as Tribal Historic Preservation, Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries, and Hydrology. This is not a stand-alone program to build from scratch, but an opportunity to strengthen existing offerings, meet regional needs, and advance applied research through Tribal and community partnerships that have already identified remote sensing as a critical and growing area of need.
