SKC is proud to announce an exciting 8-week Welding Course, launching this August, in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest Ironworkers and the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes. This intensive program is meticulously designed to equip you with essential welding skills, preparing you for immediate entry into rewarding field operations and contributing to vital workforce development within our communities.
Hands-On Learning & Direct Path to Apprenticeship
This course offers comprehensive, hands-on training in shielded metal arc welding, equipment setup, and critical safety practices. What truly sets this opportunity apart is that those who complete the course successfully are eligible to enter the Ironworker apprenticeship program. Apprentices earn a starting wage of approximately $25.40 per hour, with consistent increases over a four-year training period, leading to a journey-level ironworker earning around $50 per hour plus national mobility, living wage, healthcare, and retirement benefits – a secure foundation for your career. Furthermore, participants will receive a $100 daily stipend for full attendance, supporting your journey as you gain valuable skills without significant financial burden.
Empowering Our Communities
SKC is committed to empowering Native communities by filling unmet needs and fostering strength from within. This Welding Course exemplifies that mission, prioritizing enrolled members or first-generation descendants of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes for the limited 10 training positions. By training skilled professionals, we collectively build a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
